Non-Licensed Nuclear Plant Operator

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Non-Licensed Nuclear Plant Operator located at Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, NE.

Incumbent must live or relocate within 45 minutes of Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS) to satisfy Emergency Plan requirements.

Must be willing and able to work rotating shift schedule. This will include weekends, holidays, and back shifts.

Summary of Job duties:

Operate and monitor all electrical and mechanical plant equipment. Ensure that all equipment is operated safely and in a manner that will guarantee continuous operation even in the event of an abnormal or emergency situation.

Monitor and operate equipment assigned to Turbine Building, Reactor Building & Radwaste Building.

Perform refueling operations, maintenance activities, and testing during refueling outages.

Tag out equipment for maintenance and restore equipment to operations, perform surveillance testing of systems and equipment, and perform systems valve lineups.

Attend continuous Non-Licensed Nuclear Plant Operator requalification training and satisfactorily complete associated exams.

Respond to fires or fire drills as a fire brigade member or fire brigade leader.

Perform duties of the On-Shift Communicator during emergencies and drills.

Maintain qualification as a Fire Brigade, Hazmat Responder and Transmission Switchman.

Qualifications:

APPLICANTS CHOSEN FOR INTERVIEWS MUST PASS A POSS (Plant Operator Selection System) TEST & BE RECOMMENDED FOR NUCLEAR.

High school diploma and completion of the Navy Nuclear Program is preferred

OR

Associates degree or Bachelors degree in a technical area

OR

Previous commercial power plant experience

Incumbent must meet requirements of ANSI N18.1-1971, Section 4.5.1. (Documentation of qualifications is a condition of employment specifically a High School Diploma.)

Salary Information: $35.98/hour
