Sustainable Strategies Consultant

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Sustainable Strategies Consultant located at Columbus, NE.

Summary of Job duties:  

The Incumbent meets and communicates regularly with, Wholesale Customers , NPPD Retail, and Industry Executives to provide, support, or facilitate the delivery of value-added energy-related services (including renewable energy, efficient electrification and emerging electro-technologies) and information in support of the customers' operations as it relates to residential, commercial, and industrial business sectors.

This position will report to the Sustainable Energy Manager.

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Incumbent actively supports Wholesale Customers and Retail customers with energy-related services and increased focus on energy efficiency. Services provided include: (Energy and energy cost related analyses, power quality, power factor, audits, rate comparisons, energy efficient product promotion, lighting system analyses, conservation on demand management, building energy conservation recommendations, reliability analyses and corrective actions, engineering and technical support for GeoEnergy, Energy Monitoring, Energy Information Analyses, Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency programs).

  • Continue to develop technical knowledge and proactively promote energy efficiency,   renewable energy, emerging electro-technologies, and efficient electrification technologies. Utilize reporting tools to monitor performance (activity and results).

  • Develop relationships with key external business partners (dealers, builders, contractors, etc.) and actively promote energy efficiency improvements that are in the best interest of the end-use customer. Develop relationships with key industry and business associations and develop alliances with vendors to leverage the services that can be provided to, Wholesale Customers, NPPD Retail and their end-use customers.

  • Serve as the District's Energy Efficiency Expert and will be the expert contact on specific processes and technology resources (e.g. Demand and Energy, Microwave Drying/Curing, High-Efficiency Illumination, Smelting, High-Speed Extrusion, GeoEnergy, Energy Monitoring and Information, etc.), including latest research trends.

  • Serve as a trusted energy partner for Wholesale Customers, NPPD Retail and their largest industrial customers. Interfaces with state and federal agencies and trade associations (which includes but not limited to: DOE, NDEQ, NEO, EPRI, APPA and SEPA )to complete reports and –collaborate on projects

  • Provided assistance on sustainable energy technologies initiatives for the District, such as photovoltaic, energy storage and electric transportation 

Qualifications:

  • Education, Training, and Experience:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 10 years of energy-related services. Incumbent should have extensive experience in lighting, power monitoring, power quality, HVAC, manufacturing processes, compressed air, refrigeration or other energy intensive specialty. Recent experience in renewable energy, emerging electro-technologies, and efficient electrification technologies is preferred.   Proven Program Leadership / Management with history of successful efficiency program results is required. The related experience includes: technical sales (i.e. sales of energy-related products), application of lighting, HVAC, motors, energy efficient equipment application, and/or front line customer service directly related to these areas (and a demonstration of technical knowledge of these areas). Knowledgeable of sustainable energy technologies and application. 

  • Licenses and/or Certifications Required/Preferred:

    Professional Engineers registration required

Salary Information: Exempt  Pay Grade 15      $97,140 to $125,106/annually
