Technology Project Manager:   Exempt  Pay Grade 15      $97,140 to $125,106/annually              

Senior Technology Project Manager:   Exempt Pay Grade 16      $111,444 to $143,528/annually

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Technology Project Manager/Sr. Technology Project Manager located at Columbus, Nebraska.

Position closes September 30, 2018.

Summary of Job duties:  

This position is responsible for leading Enterprise Technology projects with a primary focus on medium to high complexity implementations. The incumbent will utilize effective influential leadership and facilitation to enhance prioritization, team collaboration and project delivery. Additional responsibilities may include Agile portfolio prioritization, planning, and team facilitation. Acting as a trusted resource to project sponsors and product owners will be a key success factor in pursuing our organization’s digital transformation objectives and ensuring we continue to make measurable progress toward our operational goals.

This position will report to the Corporate Projects Manager.

Essential Functions of Position: 

  • Manage medium to large scale projects from assignment to closeout and ensure that all phases of the projects meet approved safety, cost, schedule, and quality requirements. Self-direct when applying a wide array of project management methodologies to achieve the desired project outcomes.

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Technology and Business teams and facilitate periodic updates to the District technology roadmap.

  • Maintain an active interface with project sponsors, product owners, and enterprise technology leadership to ensure a common understanding of project prioritization, project portfolio projections, resource requirements, and timely project status updates

  • Act as a coach/mentor to PMO colleagues and Enterprise Technology team leads to develop low to medium complexity agile project management capabilities and systems.

  • Plan, schedule, and execute all phases of projects in accordance with District project management policies and guidelines. Decide the degree of detailed planning necessary to effectively manage each phase of projects

  • Plan, assemble, organize, supervise, and maintain a project management team to successfully execute all phases of projects. Administer all policies and procedures associated with project personnel. Define and manage interfaces.

  • Understand and operate the SAP Project Systems Module. (External hires must complete Project Systems Module training prior to being assigned a project).

  • Establish project control plans and ensure their implementation to evaluate critical elements of the work and identify forecasted variances from plan so that corrective action can be taken in a timely manner. 

Qualifications:

  • Education, Training, and Experience:

    Technology Project Manager:

BA or BS Degree (preferably in a technology field) and five (5) years experience (OR)Associate Degree in a technical discipline and minimum of ten (10) years experience (OR) High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience is required.

   Senior Technology Project Manager:

BA or BS Degree (preferably in a technology field) and seven (7) years experience (OR) Associate Degree in a technical discipline and minimum of twelve (12) years experience (OR) High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of seventeen (17) years experience is required.

 Prior Related Experience:

Experience must be in technology, engineering, operations, work control, maintenance, or related functions. Experience at an electric utility is preferred. Information Technology implementation project background preferred.

Two (2) years previous supervisory or management experience is preferred for senior project managers 

  • Licenses and/or Certifications Required/Preferred:

Technology Project Manager:

The incumbent is required to obtain Project Management Professional (PMP) certification within one year of position acceptance.

 Senior Technology Project Manager:

Must have and maintain a current PMP certification.

Prerequisite requirements for PMP Certification:

BA/BS degree, 4,500 hours of qualified* project management experience, and 36 non-overlapping months of qualified* project management experience.

High School Diploma, 7,500 hours of qualified* project management experience, and 60 non-overlapping months of qualified* project management experience

Qualified experience includes project responsibilities in the following areas:

  • Initiating Processes
  • Planning Processes
  • Executing Processes
  • Controlling Processes
