Temporary Summer Custodian

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Temporary Summer Custodian located in Norfolk.

Position closes April 30, 2018.

Summary of Job duties:  

Temporary custodian will assist with the Norfolk Operations Center (NOC) and the Centralized Customer Care Center’s (4C) scheduled projects. Duties will include custodial tasks such as cleaning and performing housekeeping activities for the NOC and 4C.  Incumbent will maintain the grounds including mowing, trimming, sprinkler repair, and general lawn and landscaping maintenance. May include some travel to eastern facilties to assist with maintenance services as needed. 

Temporary positions to end approximately August 31, 2018 (depending on availability). No benefits apply to this temporary position.

This position will report to the Columbus Facilities Services Supervisor.  

Essential Functions of Position:

-Perform lawn care/maintenance using a riding mower, string trimmers, and other miscellaneous equipment.

-Monitor, adjust, and repair underground sprinklers.

-Perform building custodial services and facility and furniture general repairs

-Assist with employee relocations and department remodeling.

-Miscellaneous other responsibilities as assigned.

-Work safely and follow instructions


Education, Training, and Experience:

-High school diploma or GED required.

-Must be 18 years of age or older when start employment with NPPD.

-Must read, understand, and apply information contained in material safety data sheets (MSDS) relative to chemical use.

-Previous lawn care and sprinkler maintenance experience is preferred.

Licenses and/or Certifications Required/Preferred:

Must possess and maintain a valid Nebraska driver license.

Salary Information: $10.00 – $13.00/hour (non-exempt)
